Walk This Way

49 days to mrs.

Who doesn’t want to be showered with rose petals?

Isle

Martha has some directions for making cones, and that was a good place to start. But the cones will be sitting on the chairs along the isle, and I thought that the petals would fall out if the cones were shaped like ice cream cones.

First, I cut some subtly shimmery blue paper down to 8.5″ squares. I skipped rounding the tops and started experimenting with adhesives. Craft glue is way too messy and takes forever to dry, but mono adhesive doesn’t have enough hold. Good ol’ double-stick tape to the rescue:

Then I rolled the non-taped edge inward toward the taped edge, making the cone as wide as possible.

Rolling the cone

They came out in wildly different sizes, but I’m telling myself that that’s part of the charm.

Cone stack

Of course, what good are petal cones if no one knows what to do with them? I wasn’t convinced that my mention of “petal toss and recessional” in the program would be sufficient, so I made little tags for the cones. “When the newlyweds walk your way, toss the petals and shout hooray!” I wish I could take credit for the wording, but that’s all Laurie (via OnceWed).

Petal cone tags

I attached them to the cones with one of my very favorite things, Stampin’ Up mini library clips.

Now they’re with the gigantic Rubbermaid of vintage glassware, ready to go to the florist in a few weeks. It’s hard to believe that I have my final meeting with the florist in less than a month. Keep your fingers crossed for peonies and lily of the valley…

Foto File, Part Deux

Starting off with a few from Kelly Moore… She always blows me away. And I need to know where to get those umbrellas. Suggestions, anyone?

Three from the always fabulous Anna Kuperberg. (Sidebar: She has been doing some phenomenal baby photography lately. Like this and this.)

More recently, I’ve started following Millie Holloman and her crew. They have become one of my absolute favorites. I love how they “sign” their photos for the blog. It’s such a personal touch.

Another find on Once Wed… I need to add them to my (semi-)daily reads.

I love that One Love Photo is so unlike everything else. It’s so refreshing.

Snippet & Ink, always delivering the very best of the best.

How do you capture light like that on film, Susan Stripling?

And another “headless” wedding party, via Thoughtful Day. You can sense all of their emotions without even seeing their faces. So cool. (And did you see those varied bouquets and unbelievable shoes? Hot.)

It seems that I have to wait until my inspiration photo file is overflowing before blogging my favorites. Mine has been in a state of permanent overflow since late November, because I have barely even been following photographer blogs since Thanksgiving. (How can that be?!) So without further ado…

Four photos from Miss Amelia Lyon… The “headless” wedding party? Brilliant! And the fourth photo is one of my absolute favorite bride portraits to date.

Despite being so insanely busy she can’t see straight, Anne has still posted some swoon-worthy photos, like these two that both make me smile every time I see them.

Many of the best things come from San Diego. One of those is Susan Yee.

Unsure of the photographer, but discovered via Fairmount Bride. Love the old window.

A few from our photographer, Jessica Hill. I get more excited about having her shoot our wedding every time I visit her blog. And one of the weddings she shot was just featured in Oregon Bride, which is pretty darn impressive if you ask me. This first photo is classic Pacific northwest. The lawn, the trees, the brick building, the soft glowy-gray sky… Those are the things I would use if I was creating a diorama of northwestern Oregon.

Another inspiration file post to follow…
